Goodness Bursting Through

Good Bursting Through
On the surface, chaos,
bad news ever on the brink.
But if we ponder a moment,
turn off the voices and think.
Good news is bursting forth,
it is yearning to be found.
All that seems ensnared,
is slowly untwisting, becoming sound.
The goodness of God,
often imperceptible and subtle.
Moving in constant waves,
underneath all this trouble.
Bad news is so alluring,
easy to spread and to produce.
Despondent, forlorn, panic,
worry and anxiety so loose.
Yet everything in heaven,
is calm and serene.
A sea of glass, so steady,
Christ’s rule is most supreme.
He’s hasn’t left his post,
he isn’t surprised or perturbed.
He is sovereign, he is wise,
poised and undisturbed.
So while the bad seems bad,
the good is even greater.
For it has bursted forth,
for both the ignorant and hater.
Good news must come outside of us,
for the nature of news is so.
Declaring, exclaiming, informing,
hope of redemption we must know.
Good news pointing homeward,
to all who wander and are lost.
Good news to combat the bad,
a ray sunlight to cover the frost.
The bad was absorbed by him,
nailed to a tree, the purest of pure.
His righteous is now my own,
through the bloody cross he bore.
The good is bursting forth in time,
in places unexpectedly.
Detection of his love and grace,
are there in quantity.
And all the smaller goods received,
come from the Father above.
From the greater to the lesser,
God grants the good he loves.
A smile, a hug,
a sacrifice, a letter.
An unselfish act,
generosity untethered.
A warm sunny day,
a child’s sweet laugh.
A walk with a friend,
an uninterrupted nap.
A moment of peace,
a savory meal.
Seeing change in that friend,
a conversation deep and real.
Presence with your family,
contentment at your job.
Less angry than you once were,
more productive, less a slob.
Freedom from addiction,
conquering impulse by surprise.
No longer needing approval,
from that person you idolize.
Goodness is breaking through,
all the bad will become obsolete.
When he returns or calls me home,
oh how his goodness will be so sweet.
